I am having so much fun with this book!! I love baking to begin with, and this has some AMAZING ideas in it. It is helping me to branch out. I will be making the sports cupcakes for my nephews birthday this weekend, and then going to attempt to make the baby blocks cake for my friend's baby shower in a few weeks. I'm loving it!

I read this book just over a year ago, but with the movie currently in theaters I thought I would spotlight it again. I had read a few of Jodi's books prior to this (my first was "The Pact") but this was the one that hooked me for good. I remember sitting in the corner of the living room reading with the book in front of my face so that no one could see the tears that were streaming down my face. This is an amazing story, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the movie compares.

I won this book on goodreads.com, and I was so excited! The only thing better than a new free book, is a new free GOOD book. So I had high expectations for this. Overall it was good. It took me a little while to get into it. Part of that was because I was in a reading slump. The other part is that there is a lot of legal/war jargin in it and I'm not used to that. I love the fact that it all takes place in Washington and every town/location that was mentioned I knew exactly where it was - so this created a great visual for me. Yes, I would recommend this book to others!

I absolutely LOVE these books! They have suspense, action, love, and romance - the best of all things. The warriors are amazing.... *sigh*..... if only they were real.... :D
Zsadist used to be my favorite, but Rehvenge has my heart now. Can't wait to see what the next book holds! Rumor has it coming out in September - I sure hope so!!!

Took me a while to get into this book, but eventually got hooked. Looking forward checking out the movie and to possibly read the 2nd (haven't decided if I want to try it yet or not).

Hunted (House of Night, Book 5) By: PC Cast & Kristin Cast

*Not my favorite book of the series. It's always hard when they are released so far apart. I'm looking forward to moving on to something else...

Wintergirls by: Laurie Halse Anderson

~Written to the teen audience, this book was a quick and easy read. It struck me on two different levels.
1) I've always been obsessed with my weight. Not to the point that Lia and Cassie take it, but it's always something that is in the back of my mind. However, I could never be anorexic - I love food too much, and I could never be bulimic - I'd never be able to force myself to throw up. The thoughts that are stated throughout this book are ones that I've often thought myself, though.....
2) As a parent, it's frightening to think of my own daughter in this book. At times I notice her being worried about how she looks, but I try to make sure she knows that she is perfect the way that she is. And as I read thru it I learned clues that one can look for as my own daughter gets older.
I keep my own weight issues to myself for the most part - that's not something that I want to pass on to my daughter. and this book is the shining reason why....

Firefly Lane By: Kristin Hannah

I read this book a while back, and absolutely loved it, mainly because it's one of those few books in which you actually feel what the characters are feeling. I laughed, and I cried. In fact, sometimes I cried so much that I had to put the book down for I could not see past the tears. I've passed this book along to a close friend, who also loved it, and is now passing it on to others. Truly an amazing story of friendship....

The Hunger Games by: Suzanne Collins

This is undoubtedly one of the best books I've read lately. Completely different from anything else I've read, yet so simple and easy to read. The story of survival, love, and life that is both touching and intense.
Very much looking forward to the next book in the series, to see if Katniss finally realizes her true feelings for Peeta, and how Gale reacts to all that occurred during the Hunger Games.

My Passion

Hello, My name is Shawna, and I am a Bookaholic.
That's right, anyone that truly knows me knows that I LOVE books. Not just reading them, but the feel of them in my hands as I flip thru the pages....
It all started when I was a kid. We'd visit my Grandma Pauly in Renton once or twice a year. She was a librarian there, and would always have a big stack of books waiting at her house when we arrived. Over the years, there were always books all around her favorite chair. I remember watching her read with her little glasses on, chuckling to herself on occasion.
I must have picked up on this somewhere along the line - I'm not sure I know the exact moment. Thinking back, I've always loved to read. I could sit in my room for hours with a good book and a bag of sunflower seeds. It must be breed into me.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a complete hermit. I do love to get outside and play with my kids, and do fun activities with friends. When most people are asked how they relax, many respond with "a day at the spa", "a glass of wine", "a bubble bath", "watch tv"..... Just give me a book. It's the greatest escape!
So to keep you all updated on what I am reading, I'm thinking of starting a seperate blog. We'll see how it goes. I might just be too busy reading....... =)
